A Minergie P-certified apartment building has been built in Wilen in the canton of Obwalden. Thanks to sophisticated construction methods as well as energy-efficient appliances and lighting, operational and maintenance costs are low — something that will benefit both residents and the environmental. Structurally, the gentle south-facing slope was used to make optimal use of solar energy—using solar panels on the one hand, and, on the other hand, using the sun’s rays to heat the rooms naturally during the winter. The additional heating requirement for hot water and comfortable living temperatures are covered by an air/water source heat pump from the CTA Aeroheat range.
